Your Path

Each time I walk into a room
I see their glee turn to gloom
Because of the Christ within me.
But when they got that exam on Thursday
They always ask me to pray
For them to God Almighty.

They feel that their Spirit's all right
Because they Momma is tight
And don't need to come to Bible study.
And they grew up "Baptist",
And "everybody's 'Apostolic'"
And they say "They gon' attack me"

Oh, when will you see, lost one?
That God don't care about your denomination,
Or how tight yo' Momma is...
Because with you, everything ain't all right,
Your spirit needs a little light
So that you can really be HIS.

Because when you get to Judgement Day
I will not be there to pray
And neither will your pastor Daddy;
Because if your faith's not suffice
When God opens the Book of Life,
He'll award you accordingly.

My intent is not to scare,
Only to make you aware
Of where your path is leading you.
Please, take the narrow path
So you won't taste the wrath
Of the flames on the wide avenue.
