Taimak Guari
Taimak pronounced Ty-mock was born in Los Angeles, California. His parents originally from New York
moved to California briefly. In the interim Taimak's mother Laurita conceived him and his older brother
Meischan. His parents moved back to New York when he was only two years old. Taimak got his first
taste of the martial arts at the age of six years old under the instruction of Master Gerald Orange, a
Japanese Goju stylist. His father an Italian salesman and his mother, a soul food chef, wanted him and his
two new sisters to spend some time in Europe. They thought it would be a good growing experience to
grow up around other cultures, so off they went. Taimak and the rest of his family really enjoyed their
time Europe, but it was also a difficult time due to his parents' divorce. The family was split. The boys
went their father, and the girls with their mother. At this time Taimak had to adjust to the New York City
streets quickly.
He began studying Chinese Gojo with world-renowned fighter and kung fu movie star Ron Van Clief.
Taimak went on to win a New York State Kickboxing title and trained under Van Clief for the next ten
years reaching the level of seventh degree Black Belt. At this time everyone was talking of the movie
"Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon" and Taimak who always had the acting but, threw himself in the stew
of casting. After many call backs, he landed the role and the rest was history. Taimak is currently working
on his career in Los Angeles, where he is teaching martial arts, studying the Art of Acting and writing. He
wants all his fans to know how much he appreciates all their love and that he will be on the big screen
again very soon. He also lives by these virtues. Love yourself, love life, and keep reaching for your best
and know that you will accomplish your dreams if you don't allow yourself to lose sight of them.
"My interest of martial arts began at the age of four while watching
KATO on television in "The Green Hornet".
